Upgrades can increase the value of armors, weapons and rings. They also boost extra bonuses, such as damage from PvE and crit chance.

For example, a weapon with the upgrade template ending in % will gain an attack damage of 3% each time it upgrades (relative to its previous value).

Components

Upgrade components can be added to trinkets, armor, and weapons to give them a boost in stats or an extra effect. They can be obtained by crafting, purchasing from vendors, trading or looting. Some upgrades have special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be placed in equipment that has a slot to accommodate them. The item must be at a minimum upgraded to blue level for a component to be applied. Unlike other mods, upgrade components can only be used once; they cannot be applied repeatedly or replaced with upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a special kind of upgrade component that is that is designed for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment and some of the non-ascended back items. Infusions and enrichments can be retrieved by salvaging gear that is ascended or completing an elite mission in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.

A prefix or suffix can be added to an upgrade, thereby changing the name of the item it is applied to (for instance, 'Canthan Armor Insignia,' is changed to Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades boost the Mark Level or Rarity, allowing players to make stronger versions of the equipment with the smallest amount of Upgrade Crystals than are required to reach the same level of upgrade using normal methods.

A boost upgrade is a way to modify the attack or defense attributes of a weapon or armor. After the player has completed the cutscene and defeated the Crazed Mechanist These upgrades can be created at the Portative Forging Station. They can also be dropped by enemies when upgrading other gear or buying them from the cash shop for 500 upgrade crystals each.

The player can have up to five boost upgrades at one time. Each upgrade increases the probability that a higher-tier version of the item upgrader mod will drop in the next reset. This gives players an incentive to upgrade their gear, even if they are unsure what will be improved following a reset.

The process of upgrading an item could be costly and it's possible that the item will eventually become obsolete or even break when the upgrade fails. Glyphs can be upgraded a variety of ways, and we recommend getting them to level 15 whenever you can.

It is commonplace to see in the endgame that placing Glyphs is the best method to upgrade your gear. They are the only upgrade components that can be upgraded directly to level 15 and provide an enormous boost to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to climb higher nodes more quickly.

Glyphs, the sole upgrade component that can be removed without restriction and replaced again, are the most common. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and replaced by using a Black Lion Salvage Kit.

The value of each Glyph is displayed when you select it from your inventory. You can replace it with another Glyph that is the same or higher rank to boost the value of the Glyph.

Glyphs can be found in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of the Gem Store bundle or purchase, with certain unlimited-use tools and also during Faction Crypt Raids. Every Faction Crypt will drop one of these Glyphs. There are some rare glyphs which you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.

Once you have obtained the desired Glyphs You will have to attach them to your gear. Each Glyph will grant a distinct bonus that can boost a particular set of stat nodes within a radius around the Glyph. This will either be +40 for one of your primary stats or +25 for two of your secondary stats, based on the Glyph.

Using the Glyph can boost all nodes connected to it, and you should try to place your Glyphs near the most important nodes of the Graph to maximize the impact. Druids, for example should put their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes. They might also consider placing them near their primary damage nodes.

Leveling

The item upgrading system allows players to increase the performance of specific items by putting upgraded components into them. This is often referred to as "upping". Each upgradeable item comes with a level that determines its upgraded stats. Upgraded items can be leveled until they reach a maximum level of 385 ilvl. Each level of an item upgrader mod requires a different amount of components to reach, and the upgrade costs increase as the item is leveled up.

Certain upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient can be obtained by completing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be found in the upgrade tab of a crafting table or bought from NPCs. Each completed Upgrade Recipe earns some Technology Points. These points can be used for the upgrading of an item. When enough points have been earned you will be able to claim the upgrade and receive its additional bonuses.

When an item is upgraded by a player, the base item is replaced with a new item of the same kind. The same armor will receive the form of a weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item will have its own set bonus. This could be a problem in that it could make the item more expensive if you do not need it.

Item upgrades can sometimes be rerolled, provided that the player has enough reroll tokens to do this. This causes the item to be exchanged for a new one, with an initial level and a completely different set of bonus bonuses. This is a good idea, but should not be repeated often since it can be a waste of resources.

Certain upgrades can boost their value and allow players to personalize their gear. An excellent example is Dolphin's Gift, which gives a buff when the player is repeatedly in and out of the water (or is able to swim like a dolphin). All items can be upgraded up to five times, except for hero equipment, which is able to be upgraded eight times. Every time you upgrade an item it is given an opportunity to fail. The rate of failure increases as you go over the maximum number of upgrades. Failures can cause the item to revert to its original state, which will force the user to spend more materials than they would had they stopped upgrading at the maximum number of upgrades.

If an item is not able to upgrade the amount of experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. Additionally the item will lose any gained bonuses such as crit chance and attack damage, as well as all other effects that are associated with that effect (for example, increased heal over time or reload speed). However, the player can continue to use the weapon or armor following the failure.

Whenever an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied in order from the lowest to the highest. This means that the weapon that is upgraded gains a crit chance increase that it will be applied before any attack damage increases.
