So, I've been on a journey of learning to listen to myself at a deeper level. And, I invite you to join me on this journey, too. The Northridge earthquake in 1994 destroyed my home. I was forced to move into an apartment that didn't allow dogs. As entrepreneurs, we're overwhelmed by email, phone calls, TV, radio, social media, blogs, teleclasses, a long "to do" list, etc. And, it's all draws your focus to the external. Yet, in order to succeed as a happy, fulfilled, successful conscious entrepreneur your focus needs to be inside of yourself. Silence is how this happens. So, today, please take five minutes to sit in silence. Breathe deeply and tune into your internal world. Enjoy the silence and time to simply be with yourself.

golden teacher growkit Fulfill the Tao of Mankind, unite with the Tao of Heaven and follow the moral principles to restore the true self or soul. Learn to be loyal and trustworthy, act accordingly to benevolence and justice and hurry to establish these great virtues. Do not distinguish who is virtuous and who is slow. Do not differentiate male and female, the poor and the rich, right or wrong. A leader must have so broad a mind that it encompasses mountains and oceans. A real man must be flexible, tolerant and patient and never complain when crossing mountains and waters and endure the bad weather elements. Be cautious when hearing of praises, be happy when hearing of criticism and correct whatever is not good. Able to do all these, one can be acclaimed as a virtuous person who stands with Heaven.

golden teacher Read these to give a background on each child. You just need to continually test and adapt new teaching strategies on a small scale. It may be a new lesson starter, using a new resource, instigating collaborative working techniques, student-led projects, negotiation techniques. You test small, then you measure the results. How did it go? What response did it generate? Did all the class engage and work? If it was not successful, you've learnt an important lesson and move on. If it was successful, you roll it out and make it an integral part of your teaching armoury.

golden teacher Read these to give a background on each child. I enjoy his movies so figured I would at least be entertained, in spite of the depression and continued writers block I was experiencing.

golden teacher Someone might show specially prepared museum quality photos of petroglyphs (300 -- 20,000+ years old from the Coso Range) aka cave drawings. Or as we sit in circles on pillows we may listen or share the stories of our lives -- or might get in touch with deep seated feelings. Others may temporarily doze off.

A teacher cannot be a friend to his/her students. You are 'in loco perantis'. That carries responsibility. Obviously, you need to be approachable. That means you need to have a friendly demeanour. Tell your class when and where you are available to see them about any issues they have and help they need.

I have learned the hard way that Depression and Despair are demanding, difficult but wonderful teachers; ergo the reason for capitalizing them. Depression is one way that our soul is endeavoring to reach out and help us. We become depressed when our life is out of balance and we are not 'doing' what we are supposed to be doing. We have gotten off track and lost our way.

My English teacher was tall and desperately skinny with a long bony nose upon which rested a considerable pair of thick glasses. I was thirteen and didn't see any of that. What I saw was a frustrated poet who was teaching us the language by playing us haunting songs. In one lesson he introduced our young minds to the trio, Peter, Paul and Mary and their plaintive "Leaving on a Jet Plane". It was hard not to cry for all the world's farewells, right there, in class.

Civility is not a part of the curriculum. The SAT doesn't test civility, so why teach it might be an appropriate reaction from the educators who are graded on the scores their students get on the state and national tests.

At Esalen one of the axioms left over by Fritz Perls is "Contact Is The Appreciation of Differences." "And Similarities," as co-founder Richard Price use to say.

golden teacher growkit Become a Teacher. The only way that we ever learn anything new is from someone else. As you begin to value yourself as the Golden Goose you really are, you'll begin to notice other women struggling to do it all. Share what you have learned with them and what helps you feel good about yourself.

Remember, students are self-centred. Many believe that because you are correcting their behaviour that 'you are picking on them' and/or 'you hate them'. You might get that impression from them too. Don't take it personally. It's just 'the nature of the beast'. Let what happens in the classroom stay there.

Intent also involves the use of your eyes. In the tai chi classics, it says something like, "The eyes and the hands must follow each other." However, this does not mean that your eyes must exactly follow the movement of your hands. It means that your eyes and hands must arrive at the same point at the same time.
