Item upgrading allows players to improve their weapons and gear by adding new affixes that boost the base stats of the item or adding additional perks. To upgrade an item, a player has to have it in their inventory and have access to the kiln.

Items with weak bases, like rings can be upgraded to more robust bases. Items with strong bases, such as Titans from eth, have no changes in their stats.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components are items that can be used to upgrade weapons, armor, trinkets and gathering tools, giving an attribute bonus or extra effect while the equipment is being used. They can be bought from vendors, or found in loot from enemies, or gotten from missions and chests. Certain upgrades also have cosmetic effects.
