WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a an increase in certain stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by +3. Each upgrade also increases an unspecified substat.

The upgraded gear is usually more useful, unless the item is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). Upgrades aren't as important for the latter due to the requirement to roll the perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrading upgrader enables players to upgrade gear to a higher level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can be applied to the enchantments.

The upgrader is located in all major cities and can be accessed at any time to upgrade your gear. To keep your gear current, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each several weeks.

Upgrades will cost more depending on the item level, however they'll always be less expensive than purchasing new equipment. For instance upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points, while purchasing the same item upgrading from another player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are useful items which can be used to upgrade items weapons tools, armor, and other items. They are purchased by players through NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for different currencies, and may also be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased it can be applied to any weapon, tool, or armor with the help of button, which displays an image of the item at its next upgrade items level when the player has enough materials.

Upgrade costs differ based on the slot for the item and the current level of the item. For instance, weapons will cost more than bracers, or gloves. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones plus a set number of crests. Some upgrades give discounts on Flightstones. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain amount, it can be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower price.

Item upgraders can be found at many locations, including the main island as well as some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade coupon and the possibility of getting a new recipe. The discount on upgrades increases with the number of items being upgraded. It can also be increased by requiring players to complete specific achievements or quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrade upgrader at beginning, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. The NPCs who are able to facilitate upgrades are only accessible through a variety of methods. This is both a positive and an issue.

In Season 3, the upgrade system has been modified a bit, and numerous new features added. After the player has upgraded to a certain level of Item level upgrade for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same item level will cost less. This is regardless of whether the items are from a different set of equipment.

The discount is applicable to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed to upgrade is cut as well, but is only available after certain milestones are reached.

Crests

Players have a variety of choices when it comes to upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are a currency that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specialized, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an essential part of the Dragonflight gear progression system that was introduced in 10.1, and come in four ranks.

The first thing to remember is that crests are only available for equipment that is of a particular rank. Each rank comes with a different upgrade path. The simplest and simplest upgrade is 15 crests. The most complex upgrade could require as much as 20 crests, depending on the kind of equipment being upgraded.

Players can obtain crests by completing content of the appropriate level, whether that involves walking around and engaging in outdoor activities for gear of lower tiers, raids or dungeons of all difficulty for items of higher tier or Mythic+ dungeons or heroic raid bosses for gear that is used in the endgame. The crests can later be exchanged at an upgrader NPC, like Cuzolth in Dornogal or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to get the appropriate upgrade paths and steps.

The new currency system isn't complicated to use, but it brings some changes to the process of upgrading. For instance, once an item reaches the highest level of upgrading for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change is intended to allow players to get their equipment to the highest possible ilvl on all their characters instead of relying only on seasonal loot.

It's also crucial to choose crests with care, since they only have one use. It is recommended to use your Whelpling-rank Crests on the best gear you can locate, and save Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is particularly relevant for rings and trinkets that fill multiple slots on the character, that will be able to take advantage of the discount for all accounts when all slots are filled with high-quality gear.
