Key Dates On Trump s Overlapping Legal And Political Calendars
Jan 29 (Reuters) - Former President Donald Trump faces a crowded calendar this year as he seeks the Republican nomination in the U.S. election while defending himself in four criminal trials.
Here are key dates in Trump's legal and political schedule:
FEB. 6 and FEB. 8 Two Republican presidential nominating contests take place in Nevada: a state-run primary on Feb. 6 and a party-run caucus on Feb. 8.
Trump is almost assured to emerge as the winner, as he is the only candidate on the ballot for the caucuses that award the state's 26 delegates for the nomination. His sole remaining rival, former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley, is participating in the primary, which has only symbolic value. Trump has won the first two nominating contests in Iowa and New Hampshire by wide margins.
FEB. 24
South Carolina holds its Republican presidential primary. Opinion polls show Haley trailing Trump in this state, even though she served as governor.
MARCH 4 Scheduled start of a federal criminal trial in Washington that charges Trump with illegally trying to reverse his 2020 election loss. The trial could be delayed, depending on how long courts take to consider Trump's claim that he can't be prosecuted for actions he took as president.
MARCH 5 "Super Tuesday," when 15 states and one U.S. territory hold Republican primaries or caucuses. Trump could effectively wrap up the nomination on this date if he has not done so already. MAY 20 Scheduled start of a federal criminal trial in Miami, in which Trump is charged with unlawfully keeping classified government documents after leaving office and lying to officials who sought to recover them.
JUNE 4
The final Republican presidential primaries take place.

AUG. 5 Proposed start of a Georgia racketeering case against Trump and 15 other defendants, who are charged with interfering with that state's 2020 election results. Four of the defendants have pleaded guilty. Fulton County Prosecutor Fani Willis has said the trial could potentially last until 2025, well past the next presidential election. The judge on the case has not yet set a trial date.
