They can also find them in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be applied to any weapon, tool or armor. button, which will show an image of the item when it is upgraded when the player has enough materials.

The cost of upgrading is based on the slot of the item and current item upgrading level, with weapons costing more than gloves or bracers for example. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones plus a specific number of crests. Certain upgrades provide a discount on the Flightstones. After an item upgrader kit has been upgraded to a certain level, it can be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower cost.

Another significant change is that crests only have one purpose, so it's important to use them properly. For instance it's a good idea to use all of your Whelpling-rank crests on the top equipment you have and save Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you're planning on making. This is especially applicable to items like rings and trinkets that occupy multiple slots. The account-wide discount is only applicable when all the slots on the character are filled with high-quality equipment.
