Path of Exile Item Upgrades

Item upgrades are a common and crucial method to enhance the performance of a variety of items in Path of Exile. They can provide extra damage, AD or even affixes.

Rare-grade equipment can be superior to upgraded Common or Magic gear because of their high requirements.

Armor

Armor upgrades can be applied to both weapon and armor items. They increase the effectiveness of the item upgrades they're connected to. Armor upgrades can be found in the world of games and purchased from Blacksmiths on bonfires. They can also be salvaged using a specialist or higher salvage kit to recover upgrade components from other items.

The amount of damage a piece of armor or weapon will absorb is contingent on the degree of upgrades. The upgrade of an armor piece to maximum upgrade level will boost its damage absorption. It is important to keep in mind that this will increase the weight of the armor, so it must be heavier.

There are several types of armor upgrades available in the game, and each one has distinct effects. For example, some upgrades will grant the armor a certain number of health points while others make it stronger and lighter. The kind of armor upgrade an item will receive will be identified by the name of the upgrade, as shown in the table below.

Some of the upgrades are also magic or a hybrid of technology and magic, which is identified by a "Magic" or "Hybrid" entry in the table below. Furthermore, some upgrades require charges to use, which is shown by an "Charges" entry in the table below. These charges are either updated daily or never expire based on the upgrade.

Iron Ore is the cheapest way to upgrade your armor. You can locate it by exploring and looting small treasure chests. Titanium is more expensive but is readily available in the smelters of Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Certain upgrades, like the Reforge or the Hot Potato Books can only be applied to armor pieces that are of high-level. These upgrades can give a significant boost in stats, and are worth the cost.

The process of upgrading an armor piece to max upgrade level will significantly increase its defense values but the wearer must be aware that putting more weight on it can drastically decrease its agility and speed. It is not recommended to upgrade armor above +9. The boost in defense usually isn't worth the weight and power costs of the upgrades.

Weapons

Weapon upgrades allow players to improve the effectiveness of specific aspects of the weapon. Upgrades can increase the accuracy of a rifle or the damage that shotgun shells do. Some weapons have special upgrades that enhance their inherent capabilities. Frictionless materials (improves stability, reduces the risk of the risk of overheating), and Kinetic coils (increases the projectile's velocity to cause more damage) are two examples.

The majority of upgrades to weapons require the use of a whetblade, or one of the three Power Dices and a different amount of Minerals and Erons. These can be obtained by completing side quests or by killing a certain number of bosses and monsters.

To upgrade a weapon, equipment set piece or Whetblade you need to visit the NPC [ArmorBoboko. Boboko located in Central Flarine, and pay her an upgrade fee of a specific number of Bars. The higher the upgrade level, the more bars required to complete it. The cost of the upgrades will be less if you have more than one of the relevant upgrade materials.

In Chapter 2: Season 5, the ways to upgrade your equipment and weapon sets changed a little. Prior to Chapter 2 Season 5 you could upgrade your weapon or equipment by paying a certain number of Bars. You could do this until you reach a maximum upgrade level for the equipment or weapon, following which the upgrades would reset.

You can still do this, but the process is high on RNG and low on agency. Instead, you're much better off going to the stores and buying gear with low upgrade levels, but excellent base scores and stat distributions. These items have a better likelihood of granting you highest tier benefits and blessings.

To improve their skills faster, most players will prioritise upgrading their weapons. Players should also upgrade the weapons their squadmates use to make them stronger. Shepard for instance should upgrade his M92F so that he can unlock the Beretta M93R. This will increase the effectiveness of the weapon when used by biotic specialists like Grunt and Tali.

Jewels

Jewels are utilized in the armor's sockets and weapons, enhancing a stat and providing secondary effects. Jewelry crafting is a method of creating them. You combine gemstones with specific reagents on a jewelry table. The higher the quality of the jewel the better the secondary effect. These reagents can be gotten from Treasure Goblins and World Bosses around the world, or by salvaging Legendary Gear. You can also purchase them from The Jeweler for gold and a Scattered Prism.

The quality of a diamond can be improved upon by the Jeweler in stages that vary from Crude to Royal. Based on the tier of the jewel it can provide different stat boosts when it is inserted into gear, weapons and jewelry.

All levels of jewels are crafted at the Jeweler however, there are some exceptions to this, such as the rare and legendary gems that require you to be at a certain level to qualify for these. Jewels can be substituted with another jewel without damaging the original. However it is only possible to replace the jewels in a piece of equipment only once.

It is common to use more jewelry to enhance the appearance of. Apart from improving performance, the jewels also create an area that is stronger than steel, so the repeated friction with pivots doesn't damage them as easily.

A Glyphmaster can provide glyphs to enhance the look of your shields and weapons. These glyphs give a slight boost and can be exchanged, however they're not guaranteed to show up as loot. Glyphs are upgradeable, as jewelry, by visiting the Jeweler for gold, and also a scattered Crystal. Glyphs can also be removed and returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components, like aegis and traits, are not swappable, and can only be recovered using an Upgrade Extractor, or by salvaging them using the Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool.

Trinkets

Trinkets are pieces of equipment that offer an array of small, but beneficial advantages to your hero. They are available in the starting area as rewards for personal stories or loot. They can also be obtained from vendors as well as through completing road interaction. They can also be made by jewelers and later found or purchased at the Trading Post.

The first trinkets that a player can unlock is the cloak, which grants an unimportant but beneficial boost to speed of movement and the ability to escape. Then, they can purchase amulets, rings and necklaces in a similar way to how a player obtains weapons and armor. Each piece of equipment comes with one upgrade item slot that can accommodate either a universal or jewel upgrade. Universal upgrades provide smaller bonuses and can be put into any type of equipment however, jewelry cannot be replaced or upgraded, and only works with certain kinds of trinkets.

These trinkets can also grant bonuses and abilities that are active when the hero is not in combat. This enables the hero to be more effective while inactive, and can also help make up for a lack of a strong team or any slots in the talent tree which would normally be filled with the hero's ideal stats.

A good guideline for trinket upgrades is to prioritize BiS (Best item upgrade-in-Slot) items that you will not replace soon, followed by items with desirable stats that are less important than the iLevel of the item to be upgraded. This is particularly true if an item has multiple stats that you'd like to upgrade item as it's usually more beneficial to upgrade one crucial stat than two subpar ones.

Jungle players will often upgrade their yellow trinket to a red one at the start of the game. Top and mid players, on the other hand will pick either a pink or green ward, depending on the game's matchup. These choices will have an impact on the hero's ability to manage the map.

In addition to the items listed above, players can also find other trinkets in the form of rewards and trophies throughout the game. These can be earned by completing certain milestones in the story, for instance completing a chapter's main quest or destroying a boss. You can see them by clicking on the achievement in the reward section of the hero's menu.
