Upgrades can increase the performance of a piece and, sometimes, even add extras. The worth of these upgrades is determined by their tiers, requirements, and the amount of random augmentations applied.

The elite racial Shield Razortail, for example, is often upgraded to increase its lightning absorption capability in PvP, and/or to add additional defenses to missile-based designs in the PvM. This makes it more tradable than the non-upgraded version.

Reroll Tokens

Reroll tokens let you buy a new item, such as a weapon, armor or ring. The item is replaced by another Best item Upgrade of the same type, but with different benefits. Reroll tokens are an economical method of upgrading equipment. They don't preserve the original item's level and any money wasted aren't rewarded.

To upgrade their gear players first need to find the item upgrades they want to upgrade and then click on the "level up" button.
