The best robot vacuum Robot Hoover

The best robot automatic hoover can mop and vacuum without needing your attention, and leaves your floors spotless. Its price is affordable and its high-end features (such as dirt detector) are both positives.

Make sure you regularly inspect your robot's brushes for tangled hair and large particles and wash them if needed. Some models will also empty the dust bin on board and then deposit it in an additional bin at the bottom. This helps reduce the amount of fine dust that gets released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive counterpart the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we have examined. They have motors that are top-of-the line and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. As with other top iRobot models (including the top choice), they use intelligent mapping technology to create detailed floor plans that avoid common obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also feature carpet boost, a feature that increases the robot's power when it sees a lot of dirt on the carpet in order to get it cleaned up quickly.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests of floors with no carpet, and they are particularly adept at cleaning dog hair. However, they do have several flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. One of them is that the Q5's navigation doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance which means it's susceptible to become entangled in socks and shoes and couldn't navigate rooms with a lot of people efficiently in our tests. Also, it doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of a room.

It's still a good deal for those whose home or office has a lot of unfinished flooring and you're looking to save money. It's also extremely quiet and operates while you are at work or school. The only thing it's missing that you can't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective at mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't stick very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle however. If you want to, you can switch the mopping pad to a dry one in just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into a compact, sleek package. Its intelligent cleaning maps and fluid navigation make it simple to clean and effective in tackling larger particles, like pet hair. It also features an impressive suction system and a self-emptying bin. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, but it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensors that help it avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time and ensure more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average in comparison to similar models.

You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when it's in a room with carpet which prevents cross-contamination. Its flex arm is also perfect to get under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During tests, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete an entire house, finishing with 66 percent of its battery left. It also did an excellent job cleaning a range of rooms and floors with different flooring types, including some area rugs. Its obstacle detection was top-of-the-line and it was nimbly avoiding fake dog socks, turds, shoes and cables.

It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after vacuuming this feature, which we've not seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

With an elegant circular design that appears more like a regular Roomba than the competition's boxy units this robot vacuum and mop combo is one of the most appealing looking in our evaluations. The latest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest, with advanced features including Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).

It's the only robotic vacuum/mop to score an exemplary 10/10 in our evaluations due to a mix of high-tech sensors that include cameras, a structured lighting system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.

As with other iRobot models, the X40 is easy to use, offering an easy mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only drawback is that it's a noisy unit, which can be problematic if you run it in the morning before work or in the evening as you attempt to sleep.

It's also somewhat expensive, though it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are equally capable and look better. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that's extremely powerful however, it's going to cost you more and produce more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot mop and vacuum. It has a range of advanced features that help you forget your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning machine that is similar to Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically empty the vacuum's bin, refills the water tank, and cleans and dry mop pads.

The smart robot uses the combination of LIDAR and structured light to create the floor plan and detect obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its top competitors. It also has a front-mounted camera to detect hazards in real-time, although this wasn't quite 100% foolproof during our tests and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.

Its vacuum cleaner has the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to accomplish the task. It also has an option known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the automatic vacuum and mop robot and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas in the home based on how dirty the areas are.

For larger homes it's worth looking for models that has zone or spot cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean one specific area of your home via the app or voice commands. If you have furniture, a stair-mode is also useful. For busy families, a recharge feature and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to resume where it left off could be very useful.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you might think from its price. It is a great job cleaning, removing 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad that has a reciprocating motion that is cleaner than the other mop cleaners for robots we've examined. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a fully-featured application, and a self emptying base that can be washed.

The well-designed iRobot app guides you through an initial mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you set on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or create the spot-cleaning. You can also use it to rank your most filthy areas for greater efficiency. The app comes with a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

It can also reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It features an impressive 8000 Pascal suction and sophisticated combs that remove pet hair. You can also create a spot-clean that scours a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek, cheaper alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's more appealing, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras resemble cute eyes. It is capable of vacuuming, but is more prone to be caught by low thresholds and is a bit noisier than the other top robot vacuums we've examined. It also has a less intuitive app and a small base station that isn't able to double as an emptying bin.
