The 10 Scariest Things About Robots That Vacuum And Mop
Robots That Vacuum and Mop
Robots that vacuum and mop offer the convenience of cleaning both dry debris (dust dirt, grit) and wet messes (spills or stains) in one time without the need to switch out devices. They also can save space when compared to two separate units, especially in smaller living spaces.
A good combination bot will be able to navigate well and have excellent obstacle avoidance. Look for models that automatically empty their bin and fill up their water tank and machine-wash their mopping pads with a dedicated dock.
1. Eufy S1 Pro
It's one of the simplest robots to set up that we've tested. Unpacking is simple, and the quick-start guide gets you up and running in no time. You'll have a the complete dust bag, water tank and a hard floor solution.
The S1 Pro is an incredibly powerful machine that can mop and vacuum well. The mops spin at high speed and use 2.2 pounds (1kg of force) to quickly get rid of pet hair, dirt and sticky dried spills. The vacuum has four power modes, a variety of brushes and attachments, and a user-friendly application that lets you select the kind of cleaning you'd like to have for each room.
For example, you can decide to let the robot clean up the kitchen and living rooms but take it easy in the spare bedroom. The S1 Pro has excellent front collision sensors as well as smart navigation technology. It is able to recognize small obstacles that other models cannot. Its only minor issue is that it tends to crash into walls and objects at full speed - but an instant glance at the cleaning history in the app tells you exactly what it's doing as well as where it's heading, and which obstacles it's avoided.
A large LCD screen on the docking station shows you when maintenance tasks need to be done like emptying the debris tray and washing the water tank that is dirty. It is also able to mix detergent into the tank by itself, using a 600ml eufy solution.
Both the S1 Pro vacuum and mop have plenty of run-time and the mop is able to operate for an 184-minute runtime in Quiet mode, while the vacuum is able to do 136 minutes in normal mode before needing to recharge or return to the base to replenish. And you can see the complete cleaning details within the app, which is well laid out and easily understood, though we would like to be able distinguish between a vacuum only or a vacuum/mop clean when looking at a clean area in the cleaning history.
2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra
The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra is the most recent version of the company's top best robot vacuum vacuum and mop. The model this year has two agitators built into its mopping pad. This enhances the carpet cleaning capabilities of this model. The S8 Pro Ultra has an enhanced suction power that allows it to pull up finer hairs and other debris other robotic cleaners could miss.
Like the other two Roborock models I've tested, this one has reactive 3D obstacle avoidance and infrared technology that help it avoid walls, furniture and other obstacles. The S8 Pro Ultra goes one step further and includes two cameras that can recognize objects, and determine if they're walls or other surfaces. It then can automatically alter its direction and clean them without skipping a beat.
This is the most expensive of the three models I've examined, but it's also the most packed with features. Its sleek, angular design is attractive and it has only three physical buttons which include the power button which also resumes cleaning; a mop-only switch that doubles as a child lock; and a home button to bring the robot back to its dock. Lifting the hinged lid reveals a 350ml dust bin and 200ml water tank. The water tank self-empties and the bin is auto-filling.
The only issue I encountered in this model was the VibraRise mop pads mount is not removable. You can replace the mopping cloth if required, but it's a challenge to remove the mount for manual washing. I've found any plush carpet that the robot touches will come into contact with the rough Velcro like fastener system on the mount, which can cause scratches.
The S8 Pro Ultra has a number of smart features, including support for Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Siri. You can configure and manage these using the Roborock app that is also the home of its maps and advanced mopping settings. The app lets you schedule cleanings and monitor the battery's lifespan. You'll have to go through a few steps to enable voice control on this model. This is a shame considering the performance otherwise.
