It's therefore prone to get stuck on shoes and socks, and it couldn't navigate through rooms with a lot of people well during our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that can see around corners.

It's still a great option to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on an iRobot Roomba and you have a bare-floored home or office. It's also extremely quiet and operates when you're at work or at school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle, however. It even cleans the floor after it vacuums, a feature that we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combinations.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

This mop and vacuum combination is sleek and has a circular look that looks more like a regular Roomba unit than the boxy models from the rivals. It's among our most attractive looking robot vacuums. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also among its most advanced. It has advanced features such as Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).

It's also the only robotic cleaner and mop vacuum/mop that scored the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our testing. This is due to the combination of high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.

Like other iRobot models like the X40 is easy to use, offering a simple mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. 5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you'd expect from its price tag. It has a great vacuuming performance and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad, which uses an oscillating motion that cleans better than most of the other robot mop cleaners we've tested. It's also self-sufficient with a full-featured app and a self-emptying, washable base.

The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through an initial mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you set on the map.
