1. Roomba j7+ from iRobot
The Roomba j7+, iRobot’s most intelligent self-cleaning robot vacuums to date, is the Roomba J7+. Its biggest innovation is its camera-based obstacle-detection system. It uses AI to detect objects such as charging cords and shoes. It's also the first to automatically send you a photo of an object it encounters so you can tell it to avoid it in the future.
The Combo j7+ is also the most efficient mop robot we've ever tested, picking up spills and dirt effortlessly without leaving any trace that was there. It's simple to control via the iRobot Home app that allows you to schedule cleaning and create Keep Out Zones to ensure it doesn't clean areas you don't want it to. It's also compatible with Alexa and Google Assistant, so you can turn it on and off by speaking to it.
The design is also better than the other models. It has a sleek, top piece that appears like a toy rather than an obnoxious and loud robot. And the Clean Base Automated Dirt Disposal System self-empties and is ideal to speed up cleaning.
In our tests, we found that the j7+ swiftly removed dust, dirt, and hair from pets. Its counter-rotating rubber brush rolls kept the debris in one spot rather than sending it scattering all over the floor. It was able capture small pieces of gravel, sand, and even a tiny bit of grit. Most robots can't achieve this feat. It did this without getting caught in our pet's hair.
The j7+, while not as intelligent as the $1,217 Roomba S9+ Self-Emptying Vacuum Robot from iRobot, and cannot clean the stairs, it's an option for those who need both mopping and a vacuum. It's not too expensive and the iRobot App makes it simple to use.
The iRobot Home App is easy to use but we found it less reliable as other robotic cleaner apps. It can take a while to download updates and it's sometimes difficult to tell whether they're functioning until you actually witness them in action.
2. Roborock Q5+
If you're looking for a vacuum that does more than simply clean floors, the best affordable robot vacuum choice is probably one that is a hybrid. This kind of robot usually has a built-in water tank that allows them to mop and vacuum your home simultaneously. They also come with many additional features, including smart mapping, small object avoidance, and the ability to wash and re-dry mopping pads. The negative is that they tend to be expensive when purchased at full retail price, but on Black Friday and Cyber Monday they often drop in price.
Roborock produces some of our favorite robotic vacuums, and the Q5+ is no exception. fail to impress. This is the least expensive model in their auto-empty line. Although it doesn't have some of the more premium features (like no-go areas and multi-story memories), it's still a great choice when you're willing to compromise to save a few dollars.
The Q5+ is notably soft around obstacles like table legs and walls which makes it a great choice for homes with lots of furniture. It's also very thorough when it comes to getting rid of dust bunnies which is a problem which many robot vacuums fall short. The navigation technology in the Q5+ is superb too, with very little missed corners and on walls.
The Q5+, as with other Roborock products, can be controlled by only a few buttons on your device or through the Roborock App. With the app you can begin and stop cleanings or schedules, establish virtual barriers and no-go zones, and alter your home map, or change the labeling of rooms.
If you select the Q5+ model, it comes with a brand new auto-emptying dock that's designed to make this robot easier to maintain. It requires a screwdriver install, but once in place, emptying the bin is simple. It has a large LCD screen which is helpful when setting up schedules and adjusting settings. This isn't an essential feature for everyone but it will aid in keeping the track of the intervals between maintenance for your robot with ease.
3. Narwal Freo X Ultra
The Freo X Ultra is a well-rounded robot mop and vacuum that's astonishingly clever in its mopping and vacuuming capabilities. Its design is among the most innovative in the market however, it's costly.
It's a small base station that looks stunning and can be hidden when not in use. But the station's main selling feature is the way it automatizes various tasks and functions that most other robots leave up to you. It stores clean and dirty water, it electrolyzes and heats the water (which the majority of other robots require you to do), empties the dustbin after vacuuming, and helps keep your robot fully charged and clean.
Its vacuuming capabilities are also impressive. It's the few robot vacuums I've tested that does an excellent job of picking up debris on unfinished floors, and it's not nearly as loud as the more expensive Roomba 980 or iRobot 900 series.
The Freo X Ultra is not without flaws, especially when it comes navigation. Its laser and LiDAR sensors aren't as reliable as other robovacs, meaning it sometimes gets stuck or confused in certain areas or rooms of your best home vacuum cleaner. It's not able climb stairs as well as some competitors, either and doesn't come with a dock that lets you to create an exclusive cleaning zone for carpets that are soft.
The Freo X Ultra robot vacuum and mop is a great choice for those who want a vacuum robot that can do it all.
If you're looking for a way to save money or aren't concerned about the limitations of the robot, there are other options on the market. Many eufy models cost considerably less. The Eufy Qrevo curv, for example is a bit more expensive, but offers more features, such as the ability to climb stairs and a full-function Dock, that provides an improved overall experience when vacuuming on bare floors, low-pile carpets as well as high-pile carpets.

Its design is less ostentatious than some rival models, with sleek black finish and three physical buttons: Auto Cleaning start/pause, Recharge and Spot cleaning robots (which cleans the area in an arc for two minutes). You can also connect the G30 to Amazon Alexa or Google Home to do unscheduled cleaning with voice commands.
The main feature that sets the G30 apart from most competitors is the way it cleans. It uses an integrated map to create an image of the immovable items that are in its path. It keeps track of the items it has cleaned and where it cannot access. It will return to the base to recharge and continues cleaning the area it left.
The elegant G30 has some flaws. The iRobot Roomba 675 is more constructed, has lower recurring costs, is charged more quickly and has the same battery life, while providing superior performance on floors that are unfinished and carpets with a low pile. It also has a larger dust bin that doesn't have to be emptied as often and comes with an array of boundary strips to ensure it isn't in certain areas. The G30 is, however is less expensive and is much simpler to maintain. Its smaller container means it doesn't need to be emptied as frequently, and it has less difficulty with bulky items like cereal.
