Examine your robot's brush regularly for tangled debris as well as hair. Wash them if needed. Some models will also empty the onboard dust bin and place it in an additional bin at the bottom. This helps reduce the amount of fine dust that gets released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've test. They have motors that are top-of-the line and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other top iRobot models (including the top choice) they employ smart mapping technology to design detailed floor plans and avoid household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. They also have carpet boost which boosts the robot's power when it detects the presence of dirt on the carpet, allowing it clean quickly.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests of floors with no carpet and are especially adept in cleaning hair from dogs. However, they do have some flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. For instance, the Q5's navigation doesn't feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology and is therefore prone to become entangled in shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera to see around corners.

Still, it's very good for those who want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot, and you have a mostly unfinished home or office. Additionally, it's quiet and you can use it while you're at work or school. The only thing it lacks that you don't get in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stick well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has self-emptying docks, however. If you're in need of it clean the mopping pad, it can be swapped for an awe-inspiring one in a matter of seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that can also sweep floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as quick navigation make it easy to clean, and effective in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also comes with a powerful suction and a self-emptying bin. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, though it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensors that help it keep away from obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time and offer cleaner and more efficient cleaning robot mop and vacuum. You can alter its cleaning schedule and set up zones with the well-designed app. Its battery life is average in comparison to similar models.

You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when in a room with carpet to prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be utilized to reach under furniture that is low and along baseboards. It doesn't perform as well on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

In tests, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop in the market to clean an entire house, finishing with the battery at 66 percent left. It also did an excellent job cleaning a variety of rooms and floors with different flooring types, including certain area carpets. Its obstacle detection was great and it was able to avoid fake dog turds and socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.

It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that is automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after vacuuming this feature, which we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

The robot vacuum and mop combination features a sleek, circular look that looks much like a Roomba model than the bulky models from the rivals. It's one of our most attractive looking robot vacuums. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also its smartest. It features advanced features like enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads autonomously).

It's also the sole robot vacuum/mop to score the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is due to a mix of modern sensors, including a restructured light system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mops.

As with other iRobot models like the X40 is user-friendly, offering an intuitive mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only real drawback is that it's an eerily noisy device that could be an issue if you use it in the morning before work or at night as you attempt to sleep.

It's also a bit costly, but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally impressive and attractive. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that is very efficient however, it's more expensive and make more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot vacuum and mop. It comes with a variety of advanced features that make you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device that is similar to Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum, refills the water tank, and cleans and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot employs an array of LIDAR and structured light to draw out the floor plan and detect obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its more expensive competitors. It also has a front-mounted camera for real-time hazard detection however, it wasn't reliable in our tests and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The vacuum has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to get the job done. It also has a feature known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas in the house based on how dirty the areas tend to be.

For bigger homes it's recommended to choose models that has zone or spot cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean one specific area of your home via the app or voice controls. A stairway mode is useful if you have a lot furniture. Finally a recharge and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to take over exactly where it left off is great for busy families.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more sophisticated than its price suggests. It vacuums well and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with a single pad and a reciprocating movement which is cleaner than the majority mop cleaners for robots that we've tried. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and a self-emptying base that can be washed.

The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate an exercise in mapping that collects data on your floorplan and any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. You can use it to make cleaning schedules, plan the perfect spot for cleaning or sort out your rooms with the most dirt for better performance. The app also provides access to many features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It is also able to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a strong 8000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for pet hair. You can also organize a spot-cleaner that will thoroughly clean a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and more affordable alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are shaped like cute eyes. It is capable of vacuuming, but is more prone to get caught on low thresholds and is louder than the other top robotic vacuums we've tested. It also comes with an app that's not as intuitive, and a smaller base station that does not double as a bin to empty.
