Top Rated Robot Vacuum Rated Robot Vacuums

A robot vacuum can keep your floors clean enough to reduce the frequency of hoovering manually. Choose one that has good navigation, can clean corners and stairs and has a huge dust bin that has to be emptied only periodically.

There are models that can mop and charge themselves This is an advantage important for families with pets or children. A majority of the top performers in our tests have great obstacle avoidance.

1. iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO

The i3+ EVO is identical to its sibling the i3 EVO. They differ only in that the i3+ comes with self-emptying capabilities. That makes the i3+ a good option for those who want an entirely automated, hands-free cleaning experience, but don't mind manually emptying their robot's dustbin when it is full.

Both robots do well picking up surface debris on carpets and hard floors and they are very good at getting around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates a smart maps of your home to aid the i3+ in its navigation and clean up efficiently. However, unlike the i7+ or other top rated robots we tested, the i3+ doesn't have a feature for avoiding obstacles which means it can get stuck on things such as socks or power cords and it may have trouble in navigating through transitions between surfaces, such as from hardwood to rug.

iRobot recommends you clear out areas in which the i3+ EVO will best combo vacuum before you use it, and include getting rid of any toys or clutter it may come across. Also, keep the dustbin and filters clean to prevent them from becoming clogged. When the i3+ EVO's internal bin is empty or the battery is not fully charged, it returns to the docking station and emptys the dirt into the docking station’s external dustbin. Then it continues cleaning from where it started. Battery life is about an hour and a half of continuous use. It takes three hours to charge.

2. iRobot i7+ Roomba

The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the top model of the flagship line from iRobot and is equipped with the most recent features. It has self-charging and self-navigating. But the most significant feature is its auto-emptying bin. This will eliminate the need for routine maintenance.

The Roomba I7+ can better map rooms with Imprint Smart Mapping. It also integrates with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning tasks, and it can control your robot via the app or voice.

In our testing the i7+ was more agile and faster than our second-placed model, the eufy RoboVac G30, and it removed large chunks of pet hair from all surfaces types, including carpeting. Its main advantage over the eufy, though it self-empties its dust bin, which removes a major source of maintenance and cuts down on the amount of time spent cleaning.

We were also impressed with the i7+’s compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We used these services to instruct the robot to begin or stop cleaning sessions as well as move around the room, and to vacuum a particular area. Connecting the i7+ to these services was easy and straightforward through the iRobot Home app. Once connected, we were able to communicate with the i7+ using voice commands, such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options to manage the i7+'s preferences and monitoring its performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

In a world full of cordless vacs that feel like minivans or buses, this small Dyson model feels like a sports car. It is powerful enough to replace a traditional stand-up vacuum in a majority of homes, but it is also compact enough to fit on a coffee table or bookcase.

The V10 is powered by a seven-cell, high-energy lithium-ion battery that can provide continuous, non-fading power for 60 minutes. The sophisticated whole-machine filter system captures allergens, and then releases fresh air into your home. The cleaning head is specially designed to drive bristles made of nylon that are stiff into carpet to suck up large particles and fine dust. It comes with three suction modes to match the task being performed. It quickly converts from handheld to floor remote vacuum cleaner, and then back to floor.

This model has a dock which charges the Dyson to 100% in 3.5 hours. It also provides an easy access to two attachments as well as an handheld. This is a huge improvement over the older Dysons models, which take a long time to charge and are difficult to store.

The main drawback of the V10 is its short run time. Its marketing claims that it can provide up to 60 minutes of run time are a bit misleading as CR's tests have shown. This is a typical not an extraordinary time to run the battery-powered cordless vacuum. This is enough time to clean the typical home however, it's not enough time to reach every spot. (A second pass generally works). This model has its own advantages however: it's light and more maneuverable than older Dysons cordless models and its ability to vacuum is significantly better on carpets with low pile.

4. iRobot Roomba 694"

The 694 is a basic robot vacuum that's an excellent choice for those who don't have a lot of money to spend on a robot. It could pick up the majority of types of debris and sizes during our tests and would often go over the same area many times for an extensive clean. Its flat front makes it possible to reach the corners and edges of walls.

Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt to stay clear of obstacles and navigate your home, but it's not equipped with the mapping capabilities of more sophisticated models such as our top picks, the i3+ EVO and j7+ series. As a result, it can sometimes get stuck on things like phone cords and furniture that isn't as sturdy, and often will run out of battery before making it back to its base.

The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in all aspects, as it has fewer parts that require regular cleaning, is fitted with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, has lower costs for recurring maintenance, has more advanced automation capabilities and is better at maneuvering itself. It also has a bigger dustbin and is charged faster.

The elegant RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 in most reasons, since it has a longer battery life, can change its suction power mode on its own and has physical boundary strips, and can be controlled by your smartphone's voice assistant. It's also more robust, has a larger motor, and performs better on floors with bare or low-pile.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

Samsung is a well-known brand in the field of home electronics. It's no surprise that they are also among the top producers of robot vacuums and mop. Jet Bot AI+ has the most advanced onboard technology for navigation and obstacle avoidance.

The app provides plenty of options to personalize your robotic vacuums cleaner, including virtual barriers mopping water levels, behavior customization docking frequency settings and much more. It's easy to understand and easy to use, just as is the case with other Samsung devices.

In our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors and handled dog hair (on carpet) quite well, cleaning up 86% of it. It didn't do very well in avoiding taller items such as socks or cords. This was disappointing. It's also more expensive than other models that we tested, and this could be a problem for some shoppers.

The app allows you to access the camera onboard of the smart vacuum. You can also create live streaming from the robot's area of cleaning. This feature allows you check in on your pets or children while you're away. The filter and the dust bin can be cleaned to make cleanup quick and easy. The Jet Bot AI+ also has a clean station that's self-emptying to keep the robot's dustbin clear and maximizes suction power for each cleaning.

6. Black & Decker budget robot vacuum Vacuum

Black and Decker robots have been designed specifically for hard flooring. They have a wider cleaning path and a larger dust bin that can hold 2X more debris than other models to keep the cleaning area clean for the longest time. They also come with two side sweepers for cleaning along edges and corners. The POWERSERIES Extreme model comes with AutoSense technology, which can tell if it's picking up dirt or debris on the surface and then automatically adjusts its power level. It also has a smart app that lets you view the virtual map and manage the functions and schedules. Additionally, you can track the status of the vacuum's battery and return it to its dock to charge at the touch of one button. The app allows you to customize the LED lights on the top of the vacuum so that you can discern where it is focusing or if it's stuck.

The application also allows you to manually steer the robot should you need to. For example my living room rug has a darkly-colored border that tends to cause confusion for other robots I've tested. However, the HRV 425BL kept moving across the border, without registering it as an incline. The ability to program a weekly cleaning schedule is a great time-saving convenience.
