The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests of floors with no carpet and are especially adept in cleaning hair from dogs. However, they do have a few flaws however, which prevent them from being our first option. One of the Q5's shortcomings is its navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's therefore prone to getting stuck on shoes and socks and couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very efficiently during our tests. Also, it doesn't have an image sensor that lets it see the corners of the room.
It's still a good value, especially if your office or home has a lot of bare floors and you want to save some money. It's also quiet and can be used while you're at work or in school. The only thing it doesn't have that you won't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective in mopping, using disposable wet wipes that don't stay on well and aren't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle, however. If you're required to clean the mopping pad, it can be changed for one that is wet in just a few seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that can also sweep floors. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it easy to clean and effective at dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also features a powerful suction and self-emptying bin. It's the most efficient robotic hoover for carpets, but it isn't as effective as some of its competitors when it comes to deep cleaning.
This highly efficient mop and vacuum combo makes use of advanced sensors to dodge obstacles and pet waste, and it also learns the layout of your home over time for more efficient cleaning. The app lets you customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. It comes with a battery life that is similar to other models.
If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can tell it to take off and extend its mop. This can help avoid cross contamination. Its flex arm can also be used to reach under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. 3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
The robot vacuum and mop combination features a sleek, circular design that looks more like the regular Roomba unit than the boxy models from the competition. It's among our most attractive robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is among the most intelligent, with advanced features including Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).
It's also the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our tests. This is due to a mix of high-tech sensors including a structured light system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.
Like other iRobot models like the X40 is user-friendly, with a simple mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only issue is that the X40 is still a noisy unit. This could be a problem in the mornings prior to work or during the night when you're trying to fall asleep.
It's also quite expensive but not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally impressive and attractive. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that's extremely powerful, but it will cost you more and create more noise.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with a variety of sophisticated features that let you get rid of your chores. Like Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that can take the care of mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multi-function dock that automatically empty the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank and washes and dry the mop pads.
The smart robot employs a combination of LIDAR and structured light to map out the floor plan and detect obstacles, navigating more intelligently than its top rivals. It also comes with a front-mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time, though this wasn't foolproof in our tests and could be confused with power cords or obstructions.
The vacuum cleaner comes with the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to do the job. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the automatic vacuum cleaner works and also adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house depending on the amount of dirt they tend to be.
If you have a larger home, it's worth selecting a model with a the option of cleaning zones or spots. This allows you to tell the robot which area of your house needs to be cleaned using the app or voice command. A stair mode can be useful if you own a large furniture.
