However, unlike the i7+ or other top-rated robots we test, the i3+ doesn't have any obstacle-avoidance features and therefore it could get stuck on things such as socks or power cords and it can have difficulty in navigating through transitions between surfaces, such as from hardwood to carpet.

iRobot suggests that you clear areas in which the i3+ EVO will vacuum before you use it, including clearing out any clutter or toys it might encounter. Also, keep the dustbin and filters free of dirt to prevent them from becoming clogged. If the i3+'s internal bin is empty or the battery is low it returns to the docking station and takes the dirt out of the docking station's dust bin. It then continues cleaning where it started. The i3+ EVO's batteries last for about an hour and a half continuous use, and takes around three hours to fully recharge.

2. iRobot Roomba i7+

The iRobot i7+ is an excellent model from iRobot's flagship line, and it comes with the latest features. It's self-charging, self-navigating and -- the most important feature of all -- it has an auto-emptying dustbin, which eliminates one of the primary sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.

The Roomba i7+ can keep up to 10 floor plans and their names using Imprint Smart Mapping, an application that allows it to create maps of rooms so that it can clean them more efficiently. It also integrates with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning tasks, and you can control your robot through the app or via voice.

In our tests the i7+ performed faster and more maneuverable than our second-placed model which was the eufy RoboVac G30, and it took large pieces of pet hair from all surface kinds, including carpeting. The biggest advantage over the Eufy is the self-emptying bin that eliminates the main sources of maintenance and lowers the cost of recurring maintenance.

We were also awestruck by the i7+'s compatibility Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We used these services to instruct the robot to begin or stop cleaning sessions, as well as to move around the room, and to vacuum a particular area.
